Approved OTC Medications

If needed, you may use these over the counter medications. However, we advise you to avoid taking any unnecessary medications during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. If you have questions or concerns, please call our office or speak with your provider.

Pain Medication

Nausea

Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Extra Strength Tylenol
DO NOT USE: Aspirin, Motrin , Advil (Ibuprofen), Aleve (unless specifically told to by your healthcare provider)

Try small frequent meals.
Ginger Ale, Vitamin B6, Sea Bands
Unisom 25mg tablets NOT capsules

Take 1/2 tablet (12.5mg) and 1 tablet Vitamin B6 (25 mg) in the Morning. Take 1/2 tablet (12.5mg) Unisom and 1 tablet Vitamin B6 (25mg) in the afternoon and take 1 tablet Unisom (25mg) with 1 tablet Vitamin B6 (25mg) at bedtime.

Anthistamines

Heartburn, Indigestion, Gas

Benadryl Tums , Rolaids , Gas-X , Mylanta (safe to use for first 12 weeks), Zantac, Maalox, Pepcid
DO NOT USE: Pepto-Bismol

Decongestants

Cough/Colds

Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) Robitussin (cough)

Insomnia

Yeast Infections

Unisom 25mg tablets NOT capsules (1 tablet at bedtime) Monistat 3 or 7

Hemorrhoids

Constipation

Preparation H, Tucks, Witch Hazel Colace, FiberCon, Citrucel, Metamucil,
Milk of Magnesia, Fiberall
